Sandblasted borosilicate gives them a soft matte finish rather than a glossy one, which reads warmer and hides the fine surface marks that glossy glass accumulates with handling; it also means they're not trying to look like fine crystal. The matte surface needs slightly gentler care than polished glass — mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge, no abrasive powders or scouring pads, which will burnish the sandblasted finish unevenly and leave shiny patches.
