The Ember does one small job and does it as an object rather than an accessory — a sculptural holder that keeps matches together and provides a textured striking surface built into the piece. The weighty base is the functional detail that matters most: striking a match applies lateral force, and a light holder walks across the table under that force, while a heavy one stays exactly where you set it. Designed specifically for strike-anywhere matches — the striking surface is matched to that type rather than to safety matches, which need their own striker strip. Keep it on a stable, heat-tolerant surface, away from anything that could catch, and follow the match manufacturer's safety guidance as well as the guidance on the product page.
